I have uploaded my site but only see your "holding page". What's going wrong?
You need to upload your files to the "public_html" directory.
The "public_html" directory is a sub-directory below the directory you are in when you login to your webspace. Any files that the public can view must be placed in this "public_html" directory.
This provides you some protection against anyone seeing files on your webspace that you do not want them to. By placing files in the "root" directory you get when you first login, they can be stored without the public having access to them.
When you place your files into the "public_html" directory for the first time you will need to remove (or overwrite) the index.html "holding page" for your website to work. Files named "index.html" are the ones sent to visitors automatically when they enter your domain name.
Please note that if you enter your domain name and there is a pause, and then an error, or you still see your domain registrars "holding page" this is not caused by your files being in the wrong directory. In these cases you have either recently set DNS, or not set DNS at all. Have a look at our setting DNS tutorial.
