Where do you run your servers and datacenters from?

Our primary server is located in New Jersey in the USA. In the event that the primary server has a minor outage, a second redundant server is located off-site in Denver. By having the second server in another network operations center, even a security breach or fire cannot bring our hosting down.

Just to be clear - although our datacenters are located in the United States, we actually administer them from Australia. We have full access to make software modifications ("root" access), and in the occasional circumstance that a hardware component requires replacing, the datacenter staff take care of it promptly.

Some Australian clients occasionally ask why we do not host in Australia. The reason is that Australian hosting providers pay an extraordinary amount in bandwidth charges because of the monopoly held by Telstra. By locating our servers offshore we avoid the charges associated with having local datacenters, while sacrificing on average less than 150 milliseconds in lag time.

This is the major reason we are able to offer such low prices on hosting accounts. As proof of the responsiveness of our servers try pinging, or simply visiting www.cherry-web-hosting.com.au. We host our site on exactly the same servers as we host yours on.
