What are the locations of Perl and Sendmail?
Using Perl (a language for creating interactive websites) and Sendmail (an email program) you can create "contact us" pages that email the contents of one of your forms. To achieve this you need the following paths:
- Path to Perl: /usr/bin/perl
- Path to Sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
- Home Directory: /home/your_username/
You must also remember that you need to change permissions on your Perl scripts to 755 to avoid an Error 500 Internal Server Error, and they must be placed in the cgi-bin directory to run. These settings and requirements are standard for using Perl, but sometimes the little things trip-up even the pros.
