Linux Operating System

Linux is an operating system (OS) similiar to Microsoft Windows. It provides the base software environment for our servers, featuring reliability and security needed in uptime-critical tasks.

It is estimated that two-thirds of webservers currently use a Linux OS for the hosting of websites. Features like these are the reason why:

  • Websites are placed online easily using the same tools as other operating systems
  • Both coding and testing are done by professionals across the globe. No other OS has a larger group of developers working on it
  • Linux provides many advanced features not available elsewhere
  • All code is open-source and can be adjusted to match our server hardware and requirements
  • Security patches are often issued within hours of vulnerabilities being discovered
  • Stability and uptime
  • Established support from Fortune 500 companies including IBM
