What is DNS propagation?
Every domain name on the Internet points somewhere. There are about 14 computer systems located world-wide that keep track of where each domain name points.
When sites are placed online for the first time or move to a new hosting provider, they are changing the records for their domain name on these systems.
The 24 - 72 hour delay from the moment you make a change, to the moment that all of the computers have your updated information is called DNS propagation time.
During that time people who enter your domain name may see the old record of your host's address, the new record, or even a switching between the two.
See how to modify your DNS settings for more information on how to start DNS propagation and get your new site pointed to us correctly.
